Don't bring poor people's Bimmers over here.

These signs aren't for the proles.

Pretty sure you will find this looking at every factory dual exhaust system ever.

Those aren't (all) equilateral triangles. Any three points form a non-equilateral triangle. Of course, we have isosceles triangles because the cars are left-right symmetrical. It's easiest to see on 3&5, where the height of the two triangles is the same, but the width is not.

Yeah, I was just doing current lineup with dual exhausts. I noticed it on a bunch of bimmers on the drive into work this morning.

You're probably right in most cases, I just thought it was very pronounced on these BMWs when I finally saw it. Plus, I can think of a few systems that aren't this way, like the Corvette and Challenger.

I'm not just being pedantic. Any three points make a triangle, just like any two points are always in a line. That you can draw a triangle on the backs of these cars is not surprising: you can do the same to any car with twin exhausts. Or you could draw lines to the back wheels instead, and do it to any car with two back wheels.

If they were equilateral triangles it would be more interesting, because that would require BMW to be specially positioning the three points with that in mind.

As it is, though, it's just something that's an inevitable, undesigned result of having a badge and two exhausts.

Yup, the make's badge will probably always be in the centre of the trunk and, if a dual exhaust system is present, both pipe-ends are bound to be equidistant to the centre of the car, for performance/sound/engineering reasons. So they'll most likely form a triangle, only the 1-series and 3-series seem to have a equilateral-triangle arrangement though.

Yes, I was just highlighting what I noticed looking at several BMWs on the way into work. I think it's more pronounced on BMWs range than on other cars due to the round shape of their logo and exhaust tips. And I know they're not perfectly equilateral, but they are close.

Also, not all dual exhausts are like this. Corvette and Challenger. Even 911, cause no logo and oval tips.

Except that 5, 6, 7, and X aren't equilateral.

I can draw a triangle on any cars ass, especially if it was dual exhausts. This is not significant.

I know they are not perfectly equilateral, but they're pretty damn close. I'm just pointing out a trend I noticed on BMWs current range that seemed more pronounced than other OEMs

Kinja'd!!!0

Eh, I don't think it's pronounced anymore than any other OEM when you think about the nature of a triangle.

Kinja'd!!!

This is a quick and dirty lexus. If we use, say, the bumper reflectors instead of the exhausts, literally any OEM will do the same thing. I could do one for Kia.

OK, well then now I see it on all cars, not just BMWs. Was just making an observation, no need to kick my sandcastle.
